Guangdong railways see over 6.5 mln passenger trips during Dragon Boat Festival Holiday

China Railway Guangzhou Group disclosed on June 11 that during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday from June 8 to 10, the group transported about 6.55 million passengers, marking an increase of 330,000 passengers, or 5.3%, compared to the same period last year. On June 8, China Railway Guangzhou Group witnessed a peak in passenger flow, with about 2.48 million passengers transported.

The return passenger flow remained high on June 11, with Guangdong Railway Group expecting to transport approximately 2.20 million passengers, an increase of 233,000 passengers, up by 11.9% on a year-on-year basis. To meet the travel demand of passengers, Guangdong plans to add 95 high-speed trains on June 11.

In order to ensure smooth transportation during the peak period, Guangdong Railway Group maximized its capacity by adding extra trains, coupling multiple train units, adjusting schedules, and increasing night high-speed train services during peak travel days of the Dragon Boat Festival holiday.

During the holiday, China Railway Guangzhou Group added a total of 510 trains, including 45 regular passenger trains and 465 high-speed trains.
