On January 31, a China-Europe freight train X8168, fully loaded with food, home appliances, and electronic accessories, departed from Zengcheng West Railway Logistics Park of China Railway Guangzhou Group Co., Ltd. (CR Guangzhou).

This train marks the 60th trip from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) to Europe, as well as the 2200th one undertaken by CR Guangzhou since 2016. It will arrive in Almaty, Kazakhstan's largest metropolis, in 15 days.
So far, the GBA has opened nine China-Europe freight train stations of departure in four cities. These are Dalang railway station, Xiayuan railway station, Nansha Port railway station, Zengcheng West railway station, International Port railway station of Guangzhou, Pinghu South railway station of Shenzhen, Changping railway station and Shilong railway station of Dongguan, and Jiangmen North railway station.

The routes cover overseas destinations like Almaty (Kazakhstan), Tashkent (capital of Uzbekistan), Duisburg (Germany), Budapest (capital of Hungary), Karaganda (Kazakhstan), Dushanbe (capital of Tajikistan), Vilnius, (capital of Lithuania), and Malaszewicze (Poland).
Along with the opening of more and more routes, the categories of imported and exported goods are expanding. There are thousands of different types of goods, including electronic devices, mechanical equipment, anti-pandemic supplies, hardware, and new energy vehicles, in addition to home appliances, clothing, footwear, hats, and articles of daily use.

According to the Customs statistics, Guangdong's total import and export of goods was 7.56 trillion RMB from January to November 2022, an increase of 1.3 percent year-on-year, and imports and exports to countries along the route of the "Belt and Road" Initiative were 2.05 trillion RMB, an increase of 11.8 percent year-on-year.
Among them, Guangdong's export of electromechanical products increased by 9.9 percent, accounting for 64.6 percent of the province's total export value. The export of electrical equipment, mechanical equipment, mobile phones and other products grew rapidly, and new energy products sold well overseas.
In recent years, the GBA has been devoted to building a high-efficient logistic system and exploring new business forms, such as cross-border e-commerce, to promote foreign trade development. As of January 31, 2023, container throughput has reached 235,000 TEUs.
