Construction of Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link comes to final stage, ready to open in June

On April 16, the entire Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link was fully covered by the 5G network, according to the project authorities.

A ceremony was held simultaneously at the west and the east artificial islands to celebrate this important moment.

There are also communication facilities on the bridge floor, as well as on the west and east artificial islands. The entire line has a total of 73 base stations.

Furthermore, the Link also began the bridge loading test on April 13. A maximum of 136 trucks (weighing about 5,000 tons) will be driven through the Zhongshan Bridge, Lingdingyang Bridge, and other non-navigable approach bridges.

Currently, the project is in the final stages towards its opening in June, with the construction of electromechanical facilities, traffic safety systems, road surface, and landscaping still in progress.

Stretching 24 kilometers, the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link consists of one undersea tunnel, two bridges, and two artificial islands. This makes it one of the most challenging cross-sea cluster projects in the world.

Upon completion, the travel time from Shenzhen to Zhongshan will be reduced from the current two hours to less than 30 minutes.
