Macao private cars to be allowed to enter Guangdong from January 1

Starting from 2 pm on December 20, Macao private car owners can submit their application online to enter Guangdong through the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Zhuhai Port. 

According to the press conference, the successful applicants can drive their own cars to Guangdong from midnight of January 1, 2023. It is expected that about 80,000 Macao residents will benefit from this policy. 

“We are implementing this policy to enhance people-to-people exchanges between Macao and Guangdong and to further promote the socio-economic development of the two neighboring places, as well as boost the development of the whole Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area,” said Deng Zhengyu, director of Traffic Administration Bureau under the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department. 

Who can apply? 

Anyone who is 18 years old and above holds the Chinese Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents. 

Cars can be registered under two drivers, but a driver can only apply for the pass for one car. 

How to apply? 

A temporary electronic entry card and driver’s license will be issued after submitting your application on this official website (https://macaoapply.singlewindow.gd.cn). 

The car owner doesn’t need to pay security deposits to customs authorities in the Chinese Mainland or get a bank guarantee. 

How long can I stay? 

Each entry shall not exceed 30 days and there is a maximum permitted stay of 180 days in a year.
