From May 15 to 17, the 2025 Shenzhen International Fisheries & Seafood Expo took place in Shenzhen. Over twenty tilapia enterprises from Maoming City participated, showcasing more than a hundred tilapia products.

In the Maoming Tilapia Pavilion, a dedicated gourmet tasting and display area was set up, attracting visitors in long queues. China is the largest producer of tilapia, with Maoming leading the way. Maoming's annual output of 279,600 tons accounts for nearly one-seventh of China's total production.
In Maoming's reservoir and pond areas, there are over 16,000 tilapia farming households, and the tilapia and related industries have created more than 100,000 jobs. Maoming Huizhong Aquatic Products Co., Ltd., one of the major aquatic product exporters in the city, has tilapia accounting for 70-80% of its exports. In recent years, the company has focused on developing a series of pre-cooked products, including tilapia fish steaks, grilled fish, and fish skin, to expand into the domestic market.

During the expo, a promotion conference was held for Maoming's tilapia. Several Maoming tilapia enterprises signed cooperation agreements with catering and wholesale distributors in the Greater Bay Area.
