Shenzhen-based China-Russia university celebrates 5th anniversary

Shenzhen MSU-BIT University, the first joint Sino-Russian university, held the opening ceremony of the 2022 fall semester on September 13. The day also marked the 5th anniversary of congratulatory messages sent by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2017 to celebrate the university's inaugural semester.

A.I. Denisov, the former  Russian Ambassador to China, delivered a speech via video link, affirming the achievements of the university in recent years. He thanked the school for granting him the honor and title of the Honorary Professor, and he will make every effort to strengthen the university's position in Sino-Russian cultural, educational, scientific and technological exchanges.

Zhu Chaohua, an inspector at level 1 of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education, hopes that the university can continue to develop its educational philosophy, teaching resources, school brand, talent cultivation, and technological innovation, as well as to bring together the resources of the two countries, and build a new "highland" for Sino-Russian education cooperation.

Faculty representative A.V. Kitashov, also the Dean of the Faculty of Biology, shared with the freshmen the formula to success that he believes, "To have lofty dreams, firm confidence, persistent pursuit, and a ‘candle’ that illuminates the way forward. This candle is the knowledge, skills and experience that students need to learn."

Data from the Shenzhen MSU-BIT University showed that the university enrolled 1,829 students in the 2022 fall semester, including 1,593 undergraduates, 209 postgraduates, and 27 PhDs.
