On May 10, a moot court activity themed on noise pollution and residents' health rights disputes was held at the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, jointly organized by the Legal Affairs Bureau of the cooperation zone and the Legal Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government.
The moot court aimed to enhance legal education among young people, attracting over 30 participants and providing an innovative platform for legal learning.
The activity offered a realistic simulation of a court trial, allowing participants from the youth volunteer group of the Legal Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government to engage in role-play as judges, plaintiffs, defendants, and lawyers. Before the simulation, legal professionals provided participants with comprehensive training on case analysis, legal provisions, and courtroom procedures, to enhance their understanding of judicial processes and legal application.
The simulation covered all stages of a trial, including the opening of the court, plaintiff statements, defendant responses, evidence presentation, court debates, and final statements. The participants were fully immersed in the legal process, gaining practical insight into the judicial system. Feedback on their performance was also provided by professional lawyers.
The event represents an innovative approach to legal education. By allowing young people to experience the legal process firsthand, the activity aimed to cultivate a stronger awareness of the rule of law and inspire interest in legal careers.
Future plans are underway to deepen people's understanding of legal knowledge and to promote exchanges on the rule of law between Hengqin and Macao.
