As summer vacation approaches, the Guangzhou Opera House has prepared a variety of shows for kids, inviting them to question, understand, and reinterpret the world we live in through art.

The musical School of Rock features music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Glenn Slater, and a story by Julian Fellowes. The plot centers on Dewey Finn, a struggling rock guitarist who impersonates a substitute teacher at an elite prep school. Ignoring the traditional curriculum, he transforms his class into a rock band, uncovering their hidden talents and instilling a love for music. Since its debut on Broadway in 2015, it has received critical acclaim for its high-energy performances, catchy rock score, and heartwarming message of following one's dream.

The Adventures of Tortoise and Hare is a vibrant theatrical adaptation of Aesop's classic fable, produced by Lightwire Theater. The Box Show, produced by Australia's Junkyard Beats, is a high-energy theatrical performance that transforms everyday objects into musical instruments. Using boxes, buckets, and other discarded items, the performers create a dynamic and rhythmic spectacle. The show blends music, comedy, and physical theatre, captivating audiences with its creativity and inventiveness. Suitable for all ages, it highlights the potential for art and music in the most unexpected places.

The event "Classical For Kids" invites children to experience the charm of classical music in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. I Piano is a magical music theatre production that follows a little girl who helps a piano find its lost music. They embark on an adventure featuring dancing dinosaurs, monks on scooters, and a swooshy octopus. The show combines drama, music, games, and shadow puppetry, offering an interactive experience that explores various music styles from Beethoven to boogie-woogie. It’s an enchanting performance that engages children and adults alike, making music an accessible and delightful experience.

The Flower in the Mirror is a play co-produced by artists from China and France. It follows the protagonist Tang Xiaoshan's search for twelve lost flowers, which leads to encounters with extraordinary lands such as the countries of Black-Tooth and Pig-Snout. The fantastical countries and their inhabitants serve as a mirror, reflecting the limitations of our contemporary world and its people. The play is presented by kids from the Guangzhou Opera House Theater & QFun Theater Children's Experimental Troupe.

The play Zhong Kui: The King of Ghosts draws inspiration from the Chinese folklore figure Zhong Kui, the ghost catcher. It tells the story of a boy bullied at school who mistakenly summons a young Zhong Kui. Together, they confront bullying, explore themes of beauty, strength, and forgiveness, and question the motives behind bullying. This play, featured in the Edinburgh International Festival and Festival d'Avignon, fosters equal dialogue between children and adults, prompting reflection on social issues.
