The 2026 Macao-Hengqin Craft Market opened on April 9 at the Hengqin Culture & Art Complex, bringing together designers, artisans and cultural brands from across China for a four-day event.
Running until April 12, the market features around 150 stalls showcasing a wide range of creative products, from original illustrations and handmade accessories to contemporary design pieces and sustainable goods. Organizers say the event is intended to make art more accessible while fostering links between creative communities in Macao and the Chinese mainland.
Around 50 Macao-based cultural and creative brands are participating, alongside exhibitors from cities such as Beijing and Shanghai. The program also includes live performances, workshops and themed exhibition zones, combining elements of heritage, sports and pop culture.
Food vendors and craft workshops form part of the wider experience, offering visitors the chance to take part in activities such as tile painting and handmade instrument making, as well as enjoy performances ranging from bossa nova to theatre productions.
The event builds on a cross-border model introduced in 2023, when Macao's "Tap Seac Craft Market" brand was extended into Hengqin under a "one event, two locations" format. Officials say the initiative has since developed into a key platform for cultural exchange and industry collaboration between the two regions.
This year's edition also coincides with other major events in Hengqin, including the third Macao International Comedy Festival and the FIBA 3x3 Hengqin Challenger 2026, highlighting the area's growing role as a hub for integrated cultural and sporting activities.
