This year, a combination of four cold spells and drought created ideal conditions for flower bud differentiation. Over 90% of lychee trees across the city successfully bloomed, laying a strong foundation for fruiting. In particular, the cold snap from February 25 to 27 brought much-needed rainfall, revitalizing the flowering stage and alleviating drought stress.

Known as the "hometown of lychees," Maoming boasts a cultivation area of about 95,000 hectares. Most types of lychee are expected to hit the market between May and early July this year. Very early varieties like Sanyuehong and Guihuaxiang will be ready in early May. Popular early types such as Feizixiao and Baitangying will follow from mid-May to early June. Mid and late-season varieties, including Heiye, Nuomici, and Guiwei, are expected from June onwards.
