GZ+746; Haizhu residents:don't go out unless necessary in 3 days

To contain the spread of COVID-19, Haizhu issued Notice No. 7 on the evening of November 4. From 00:00 today to 24:00 on November 7. During the three days, residents' movement shall be strictly controlled, temporary traffic control measures shall be implemented, along with district-wide mandatory PCR testing.

On November 4, Guangdong added 160 locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases (111 in Guangzhou, 4 in Shenzhen, 24 in Shantou, 1 in Foshan, 1 in Dongguan, 1 in Zhanjiang, and 18 in Maoming), and 669 local asymptomatic infections (635 in Guangzhou, 3 in Shenzhen, 4 in Shantou, 4 in Foshan, 9 in Meizhou, 1 in Jiangmen, 2 in Zhanjiang, 7 in Maoming, 1 in Chaozhou, and 3 in Jieyang).

In addition, there were 59 confirmed cases converted from previous asymptomatic cases (57 in Guangzhou and 2 in Shantou).

"On November 4, Guangzhou reported 746 new local infections, among which 8 cases were detected at the community level, and the remaining detected during quarantine or in high-risk areas." Zhang Yi, deputy director of the Guangzhou Municipal Health Commission, said at the conference.

Fu Xiaochu, executive deputy head of Haizhu District, said,"In principle, residents do not go out unless necessary, except for nucleic acid testing and emergency medical treatment. Each household can arrange one person to go out in an orderly manner every day to buy daily necessities or receive contact-less delivery materials."

Vehicles and individuals who do need to perform tasks such as ensuring urban operation, medical treatment, emergency response, and epidemic prevention and control can cross districts with 24-hour negative nucleic acid test records and work certificates.

Fu Xiaochu said that in terms of transportation, metro and bus stations in Haizhu District are temporarily suspended.

In order to meet the needs of examinees for examinations such as the National Unified Examination for College Admissions and national professional and technician qualification tests, metros, buses, and online rental bikes will remain in operation as normal on November 5 and 6 from 6:00 to 9:00 a.m. After the end of such examinations, examinees will be transferred to specific places by designated vehicles at each site.

There were 627 new cases in Haizhu District in a single day, and the vast majority of infected people are still distributed in medium and high-risk areas such as Fengyang and Chigang Subdistricts.

It indicates that the hidden transmission chain in the designated control areas has not been completely cut off, there still are residents' movement and interaction, and the epidemic is still not fully controlled. Now, the key measure is to reduce rebound risk in the district, spillover and infections from outside the district due to the movement of people.

Since October 22, a total of 3,732 local infections have been reported in Guangzhou, among which 2,370 cases have been reported in Haizhu District, which accounts for 64% of the total.

"Now, Guangzhou is facing the most complex and severe epidemic in the three years since the outbreak of the COVID-19,"said Zhang Yi.

Zhang Zhoubin, spokesman of Guangzhou CDC, reminds residents that "when going out to buy daily necessities and receive contact-less delivery supplies, make sure that you wear a mask, avoid crowds, keep social distancing, and wash hands when you go home," adding "each person please do take nucleic acid tests according to the arrangement."
