Guangdong issued 20 typical cases about cross-boundary disputes in GBA

Guangdong High People's Court has issued 80 typical cases including 20 recently-released cases about cross-boundary disputes in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), according to a press conference held on June 24.

The new cases were released in Chinese, English and Portuguese covering sectors such as cross-boundary investment, trade and marriage. And the cases involve the laws of the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macao.

Since 2019, the Court has concluded 58,000 foreign, Hong Kong and Macao-related cases, 5,406 maritime and commercial cases, and 8,694 inter-regional judicial assistance cases.

Since the release of the Outline Development Plan for the GBA, the Supreme People's Court (SPC) has issued opinions to serve the development of the GBA and Shenzhen Demonstration Area of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, and the development of Hengqin and Qianhai Cooperation Zones, said Tao Kaiyuan, VIce President of the Supreme People's Court of China.

The SPC has signed five judicial assistance arrangements and one judicial assistance document with Hong Kong and Macao, authorizing the three courts of Nansha, Qianhai and Hengqin in Guangdong to be directly entrusted with Macao's court in delivering judicial service documents and collecting evidence.

The courts in the Chinese mainland are urged to further reform and innovate, and to promote the integrated and coordinated development of the commercial dispute resolution mechanism regarding different judicial concepts and cultures of the three places, added Tao.
