On the evening of October 18th, GDToday Lingnan Cantonese Culture International Communication Hub was inaugurated at the 8th China Ceramic Creative Week 2024 in Chancheng, Foshan. This is GDToday's first international communication hub themed on Lingnan Cantonese culture within the province, aiming to facilitate the spread of Lingnan culture and share the story of Guangdong with the world.
The Hub will be represented by Chancheng and focus on Lingnan Cantonese culture as its main thread, aiming to promote the overseas dissemination of Lingnan Cantonese cultural brands in order to drive the comprehensive globalization of city and industrial brands in Chancheng District and even Foshan City.
Online, the Hub will establish the GDToday Chancheng Channel and utilize GDToday's accounts on major global social media platforms to create an international communication network.
Offline, the Hub will organize Lingnan Cantonese cultural promotion activities with Foshan characteristics overseas in conjunction with major events. Meanwhile, it will integrate Foshan's unique cultural activities such as the Xingtongji Festival (crossing the Tongji Bridge on the day after the Spring Lantern Festival), the Foshan Qiuse Parade, and the Huaguang Festival (where performers worship Huaguang Emperor, a great master of Cantonese opera) to conduct international city image exhibitions that combine cultural exchanges, brand promotion, and industrial promotion.
As a national historical and cultural city, Foshan has always vigorously inherited and promoted Lingnan Cantonese culture. Chancheng, the cultural center of Foshan, is globally renowned for its traditional cultures such as martial arts, Cantonese opera, and ceramics. In recent years, it has actively built the city of Lingnan cultural heritage and successfully promoted Lingnan cultures through events like lion dance performances and dragon boat race overseas in cities including London in the UK and Cape Town in South Africa. This contributes to building a cultural bridge for Lingnan culture to go global.
On the day of the hub's inauguration, the 8th China Ceramic Creative Week 2024 and the 41st China International Ceramic & Bathroom Fair also kicked off in Chancheng. The former is a grand event that integrates ceramic art, culture, technology, and commerce, leading to the transformation and upgrading of Foshan's traditional industries and promoting cultural tourism to empower urban renewal. The latter, known as one of the "Four Major International CeramBath Fairs," has become an important platform for domestic and foreign merchants to understand and purchase Foshan ceramics.
