"We choose to establish the applied research labs in China because of the country's manufacturing prowess and the strong presence of local suppliers," Isabel Ge Mahe said.

Apple has so far cumulatively invested 1 billion yuan (approximately 139.4 million U.S. dollars) in building applied research labs in China.

Notably, 151 out of Apple's 200 major suppliers have production activities in China, highlighting the strategic importance of China in the company's global activities.
