The Guangdong Provincial Government, in conjunction with the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, has scheduled the 2024 Greater Bay Area Science Forum (GSF) to take place from November 16th to 18th, 2024, across the three regions, according to a press conference held by the Information Office of the Guangdong Provincial People's Government on November 6th.

The forum includes an opening ceremony, a main forum, 14 parallel sessions, and 5 special events. The opening ceremony and main forum will be held on the morning of November 17th at the Nansha International Convention and Exhibition Center in Guangzhou, with attendance from leaders of national ministries, the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions, as well as international organizations and heads of research institutions.
The main forum will feature keynote speeches by Nobel laureates, Fields Medalists, heads of international academic institutions, renowned domestic and international academicians, and representatives of leading enterprises. The 14 parallel sessions will discuss cutting-edge and hot-topic issues in the scientific and industrial communities, offering suggestions for the Greater Bay Area to better engage in global scientific and technological innovation and accelerate the creation of a globally influential industrial technology innovation hub.
The forum will target the cutting edge of future science and technology and industrial development for a series of forward-looking explorations. It will discuss topics such as brain science and brain-like intelligence technology, artificial intelligence, future materials, future energy, aerospace and oceanography, and green and low-carbon initiatives. By seizing the historical opportunities of the new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, the forum will help the GBA be at the forefront of future industrial development by laying out disruptive technology research and development in advance.
The GSF will also host sessions such as the "Industry-Education Integration Talent Cultivation Session" and the "Women Scientists Session," focusing on the training and development of scientific professionals and female scientists. Additionally, the "Science is Young" popular science event will be held to inspire young people to pay attention to and explore science, cultivating reserve talents for technological innovation.
The governments of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao will use the joint organization of this forum as an opportunity to further strengthen scientific and technological exchanges and collaborative innovation, collectively promoting high-quality development in the GBA.
