The first month of the summer travel rush has seen an impressive total of 59.21 million passenger trips as of July 31, marking a year-on-year increase of 490,000 passenger trips, or 0.8 percent, according to China Railway Guangzhou Group, an average of 1.91 million passengers trips every day, and the travel environment is orderly. It is expected that China Railway Guangzhou Group will see 1.93 million passenger trips on August 1.
A staff member from the passenger transport department of China Railway Guangzhou Group noted that despite inclement weather conditions caused by typhoons and heavy rainfall in late July, the demand for travel remained strong. From July 22 to 31, the average daily passenger trips reached 1.795 million.

In order to meet this demand, the Group implemented scientific evaluations and dynamically optimized train operations. During the first month of the summer travel rush, they increased the daily number of passenger trains to 2,854, an increase of 93 from the same period last year, or a 7 percent.
Statistics show that Guangdong recorded 37.51 million passenger trips, accounting for 63.3 percent of the total traffic. Hunan Province saw 18.81 million passenger trips, while Hainan Province had 2.52 million passenger trips.
The top three stations by passenger volume were Guangzhou South Railway Station, Shenzhen North Railway Station, and Changsha South Railway Station, which reported 9.26 million, 6.13 million, and 5.69 million passenger trips respectively. Notably, the Guangzhou-Shantou section of the Ningbo-Guangzhou High-speed Railway recorded 1.79 million passenger trips.
As the summer travel rush continues to experience high traffic volumes, ticket reservation data indicates that popular routes over the upcoming weekend include Shenzhen North Railway Station to Guangzhou South Railway Station, Shenzhen North Railway Station to Chaoshan Railway Station, and Guangzhou South Railway Station to Changsha South Railway Station.

In response, China Railway Guangzhou Group plans to add 294 additional trains from August 2 to 4, mainly servicing Shenzhen North Railway Station to Changsha South Railway Station and Chaoshan Railway Station, as well as from Guangzhou South Railway Station to Zhanjiang West Railway Station, Chaoshan Railway Station, and Changsha South Railway Station.

In preparation for the surge in summer travel rush, youth volunteers have been at busy points such as station entrances, passenger service centers, and exits at key stations to assist passengers with information and support, especially for the elderly and young children.
The railway authorities remind passengers that due to sustained high passenger numbers during the summer season, it is crucial to carefully verify ticket information and plan ahead. Passengers are advised to allocate sufficient time for city transportation and security checks, avoid last-minute rushes, and remain vigilant about their personal belongings during their journey.
