The Baiyun District Cultural Tourism Industry Exchange and Promotion Event, along with the signing ceremony for major projects, was held at the Guangzhou Private Science and Technology Park on May 18. This event marks the beginning of a new phase in the development of the cultural, tourism, and sports industries in the district.
During the signing ceremony, 11 significant cultural and tourism projects were signed, with a total investment exceeding 10 billion RMB. These projects cover areas such as tourist attraction development, cultural creativity, and sports competitions. They are expected to bring new economic growth opportunities to the Baiyun District, as an innovative development model for the cultural tourism industry takes shape.

Among the major cultural and tourism projects signed is the Guangzhou Grandview Maofengwan Tourism Cultural Resort, invested and developed by Grandview Enterprise Group Co., Ltd. The project is located on the bank of Maofeng Mountain, Suifeng Village, Taihe Town, covering an area of about 600 acres, with a total construction area of more than 200,000 square meters. It is expected to attract 8 million to 10 million tourists annually, create a comprehensive annual income of nearly 10 billion RMB, and provide thousands of employment opportunities for the Baiyun District.
The Guangdong Nanhu Amusement Park Phase II Reconstruction Project is also included in the list. Nanhu Amusement Park is located at No. 983, Tonghe Road, covering an area of 250,000 square meters, with a main play area of more than 110,000 square meters, and opened on September 28, 1985. The renovation project of Nanhu Park officially started on July 1 last year. In December last year, the main structure of the first building was topped out. Up to now, the main amusement project equipment and other supporting facilities have entered the installation stage, and it is expected to begin trial operation in December.

Statistics show that in the first quarter of 2024, Baiyun District's GDP reached 69.63 billion RMB, representing a year-on-year growth rate of 7.2%. In 2023, the district's cultural industry achieved a revenue of 17.38 billion RMB, with the proportion of cultural industry in GDP showing an increasing trend year by year. During the same period, the total number of tourists received in the Baiyun District exceeded 23 million, generating nearly 7 billion RMB in total tourism revenue.
Notably, the Guangzhou Super Strawberry Music Festival and the Guangzhou MDSK Music Festival have successively triggered a music wave in the Baiyun District. By innovatively combining "live music performances" with different elements, these festivals have created new cultural tourism consumption scenarios, driving over 220 million RMB in expenditures on dining, accommodation, transportation, shopping, and entertainment. It has greatly enhanced the visibility and influence of Baiyun's music culture while igniting a new trend of cultural tourism consumption.
