Guangdong sculptor Xu Hongfei's works shine in NCPA

From 3 July to 21, an exhibition themed "Following the Notes: Sculptures by Xu Hongfei" is underway at the National Center for Performing Arts (NCPA) in Beijing, displaying works created by Xu Hongfei over the past 30 years.

Xu is a world-renowned sculptor from Guangdong and the dean of Guangzhou Sculpture Academy. The exhibition showcases over 120 works themed music and dance, rural scenery and folklore of South China, the 100th anniversary of the Communist Party of China, the COVID-19 fight, the Beijing Winter Olympics, Shenzhou spacecraft and so on, which reflects Chinese people's pursuit of happiness and better life.

Through representational, humorous and slightly exaggerated expressions, Xu has created various sculptures based on real life, represented by the Chubby Women sculpture series. Since 2013, he has held 43 exhibitions in more than 20 countries and regions. His iconic works have appeared in many famous tourist attractions such as the Louvre in France, the Palazzo Medici Riccardi in Italy's Florence, the city square of London's Guildhall in the UK, and the Grand Park in Los Angeles, the US.
