As of 16:00 on Friday, Guangdong's meteorological authorities have issued a total of 86 alerts for a cold wave, forecasting a sharp drop in temperatures across the province in the next 24 hours.
The province has also called on local governments to take preventive measures against the cold weather, pay particular attention to care for the sick and the elderly, ensure gas, water, electricity and communications supply and security, and protect crops and aquatic products.
