The under-construction Shenzhen Metro Line 12 will start safety assessment in mid November before the initial operation.
According to Shenzhen Metro Group Company (SZMC), the Line, connenting Nanshan and Bao’an, boasts to be futuristic with cutting edge technology applied to its construction and operation.

Construction: BIM technology optimizes management in every process
According to the head of China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC), who is responsible for Line 12's construction, "Building Information Modeling technology is widely used in every process of the Line, including cooling-water machine room construction, conventional electrical and mechanical installation, and station construction. This technology optimizes management by digitizing all the information and accurately presenting every process in construction."
BIM technology builds an established model based on the relevant information data of the construction project. Through digital information simulation, the information of the building is simulated. The application of this technology is of great significance to effectively improve engineering efficiency, save construction costs, and reduce engineering pollution.

Automatic operation
Shenzhen Metro Line 12 trains adopt the GOA4 automatic unmanned system with a design of 80 km/h. It has functions of intuitive operation, independent decision-making, fault self-healing, and a timely incident-resolving system.
According to SZMC, 4 new lines in the fourth phase of the Shenzhen Metro project are equipped with a fully automatic unmanned system. Line 12 will speed up the digital transformation of Shenzhen’s rail transit network.
Prefabricated construction upgrades project efficiency
The construction materials are prefabricated in the factories before being transferred to the site, significantly shortening the construction period compared with the traditional cast-in-place construction method.
Moreover, precast slab-made ballast bed realizes synchronous construction in multiple operations, ensuring the track construction can be finished on schedule. Precise measurement and fine track adjustment also enable the metro to run more smoothly, providing a better travel experience for passengers.

Face scanning fare collection and AI Customer Service Center available
The Auto Fare Collection (AFC) system of Shenzhen Metro Line 12 will be connected to the Shenzhen AFC Clearing Center (ACC Phase II) and Shenzhen Metro Centralized Line Control (CLC Phase II). Passengers can not only enter stations by scanning the QR code but also by scanning their faces or hands (only for free-riding population).
In addition, self-innovated AI Customer Service Center is available to provide audio and video interactive services.
