Refreshing summer night at Guangdong Museum

Guangdong Museum recently announced that it has extended its opening hours to 20:30 on Fridays until August 26. Here are some special activities and exhibitions.

Guqin Concert (静听松风——古琴音乐会)

Guqin, one of the oldest Chinese musical instruments with a history of over 3,000 years, has traditionally been favored by scholars and literati as a symbol of elegance. In this concert, Xian Jiansheng, Jian Zicong and other brilliant young musicians will jointly perform Guqin pieces.

Experience the nightlife in the Song Dynasty (宋韵风雅)

Burning incense, brewing tea, hanging scrolled paintings and arranging flowers were four types of leisure activities popular among scholars of the Song Dynasty. This time, a guqin artist, a floral design lecturer, an inheritor of dian cha (a genre of tea art & ritual in the Song Dynasty) skill, and a lecturer of incense culture will guide the audiences to experience the graceful life of this ancient dynasty.

Special exhibition of paintings and calligraphy from the Song and Yuan dynasties (绘冠南天——粤藏宋元书画特展)

This is the first special exhibition held by Guangdong cultural institutions focusing on paintings and calligraphy in the Song and Yuan dynasties, with Guangdong Museum's collection Cloud Dragon as the highlight. Audiences can also enjoy the dance and music presented by Guangdong Modern Dance Company and Guangdong National Orchestra.

Art salon of Dunhuang (“敦煌印象”艺术沙龙)

Dunhuang was a bustling international metropolis and a pivotal intersection between East and West in ancient times. Bamboo flute artist Zhang Fan and dancer Zhao Wenting from Xinghai Conservatory of Music, as well as an art graduate student Yan Jiehong from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts will introduce Dunhuang from the aspects of music, dance and painting.
