Guangzhou's Nansha shows its development to international media

An international media tour in Guangzhou's Nansha district was organized by Guangdong government on September 7. Journalists from 22 Chinese and foreign media outlets explored Nansha's development three months after China's Plan for Nansha District was launched. The event aims to promote the cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao and further deepen Nansha's opening-up.

Gao Qiteng, a representative of Guangzhou Nansha economic and technological development zone, introduced Nansha's supportive policies, educational institutions, hospitals and natural resources at the story sharing session. "Located at the geographic center of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Nansha is a nice place for living, working and traveling.”

Foreign-funded enterprises having investment in Nansha might receive up to 200 million RMB subsidies. Multinational enterprises basing their regional headquarters in Nansha might receive up to 100 million RMB subsidies.

"Why do young people from Hong Kong like to work in Nansha?" asked a journalist from NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation). Xiang Xiaoting, a youth from Hong Kong shared her experience of setting up a business project in Nansha.

"Our project is to develop an innovative hearing-aid product and make it affordable for more people with hearing disability," said Xiang, "In Nansha, we have professional support from specialists who guide us step by step, which is helpful and vital for our project to develop."

The Robotaxi, a self-driving ride-hailing service launched by Nansha-based Pony.ai, has commercialized its service in Nansha. "Automated driving technology has been promoted in China and USA. As far as I know, several major cities have started commercial operation. Now that Guangzhou's Nansha takes the lead in driverless service, I will pay attention to its development in the future," said a journalist from Asahi Shinbun.

A staff member from Pony.ai indicated that cooperation between up-stream and down-stream of the industry chain is essential for automated driving development, "China's plan for Nansha aims to attract engine manufactures and suppliers to settle here. We will facilitate the industrial resources in the Greater Bay Area for our technology and service development."

Digital Service Trade Platform is a foreign trade innovation project in Nansha, aiming to build a digital service trade platform connecting commodities, logistics and finance in foreign trade industry. "We are devoted to building an online ecosystem that optimizes the supply chain and allows enterprises to reduce cost, increase efficiency and make intelligent decision when they operate globally," said Yu Chonggang, CEO of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao International Supply Chain Guangzhou Ltd. Co.

The fourth phase of Guangzhou Port's Nansha area was put into operation in July, making it the first fully-automated container terminal in the Greater Bay Area. The container cranes accurately grab containers from the ship and then place them on the IGV (Intelligent Guided Vehicle) as per instruction made by the central information system.

"The automated operation helps to save labor and it provides innovative practice experience for other local container terminal upgradation," sadi Li Shupei, a staff member of the fourth phase of Guangzhou Port's Nansha area.
