HKUST Guangzhou approved to be established in Nansha District

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), has recently been approved to be established by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China.

Located in Nansha District of Guangzhou, the new university is a joint venture between the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and Guangzhou University.

HKUST Guangzhou plans to firstly offer three undergraduate majors in artificial intelligence, data science and big data technology, and intelligent manufacturing engineering, as well as 15 master's and doctoral programs such as advanced materials, intelligent transportation and microelectronics.

Graduating students will receive a degree certificate from HKUST and a graduation certificate from the HKUST Guangzhou.

The university integrates high-quality educational resources of the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong, with an aim to support its students to become innovative talents with international perspectives.

HKUST Guangzhou is the third Chinese mainland-Hong Kong cooperative university approved by the Ministry of Education. The first two are the Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College established in 2005 and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) established in 2014. In addition, the City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) has also been approved for preparatory work by the Ministry of Education.
