Guangzhou's Nansha District announced nine supportive policies for attracting international talent on May 11, targeting top talent, young talent, overseas talent, and technicians. The policies emphasize the rewards of economic achievement and introducing talent, diversify assessment methods for talent, and support the living demand of the talent's family.

Top talent with a full-time job in Nansha will receive subsidies of up to 10 million RMB per individual. Talent's project will be rewarded up to 100 million RMB for the team.
"We expect to stimulate innovation, entrepreneurship, and creativity of various talent in Nansha after implementing the nine policies," said Zhang Jiabing, Head of the Organization Department of Nansha District.
According to Zhang, Nansha plans to develop the district into an international talent hub, and policies for attracting international talent will be implemented. An award of up to 1 million RMB will be given to newly introduced talent with doctoral degrees from internationally renowned universities.
Overseas talent holding specific international professional qualifications will be given a talent bonus of up to 1 million RMB, such as the Member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, the Member of the American Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the Certified Specialist of the US Green Building Council (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, LEED), and the Financial Risk Manager of Global Association of Risk Professionals.
Employers in Nansha District will also be supported with subsidies if they employ overseas talent in the district or their overseas offices.
Huang Lihui, Director of the Human Resources Center of the Greater Bay Area Institute of Precision Medicine, told GDToday that she was interested in the diversifying assessment methods mentioned in the policies.
"The new policies allow enterprises to participate in assessing talent for government support. The qualification of top talent can also be approved by experts and top scientists' references. It's very beneficial for us to attract overseas talent under these policies," said Huang.
According to the Nansha government, more details about the implementation of the nine policies and the application of subsidies will be released soon.
