Italian food photography exhibition underway in Guangzhou

Whether you are into food, photography or art, the following exhibition is not to be missed. On May 16, the photo exhibition EDO, ERGO SUM opened at the Guangzhou Library, exhibiting more than 90 food photography works created by famous Italian photographer and cooking master Francesco Tonelli.

This exhibition uses the changes of light and shadow with ingenious space to design a visual feast, so that the audience's appetite and imagination can be fully stimulated.

This photography exhibition has seven parts, First (course) of All, Light and Shadows, Delicately Elegant, Raw, Conceptually Envisaged, Liquid Rendezvous and Bringing China to the Table. It is worth mentioning that "Bringing China to the Table" shows the charm of Chinese food through the lens of the Italian photographer, and provides a personalized interpretation of Chinese food, reflecting the connection and dialogue between the two major civilizations of China and Italy on the dining table.

Francesco Tonelli grew up in Italy and taught cooking at the Culinary Institute of America. Due to his passion for photography, he later became a professional food photographer. He uses photography to amplify the sense of taste, with a skillful blend of light and shadow, inspired by ancient painting techniques. His photos are the result of a great passion and meticulous attention to detail. His style tells how art is transversal and constantly evolving. Only true artists can see the extraordinary from out of the ordinary.

Luca Ferrari, Ambassador of Italy to China said in an introduction to the exhibition, "Italy and China are linked by an ancient and profound friendship. One of the aspects that unite the two countries are the culinary traditions. A love for good food and conviviality are key factors in both cultures."

Lucia Pasqualini, the Consul General of Italy in Guangzhou, believes that the exhibition "Edo, Ergo Sum" is not only an exhibition of delectable artistic photos, but also an important event that promotes the cultural exchanges and people's friendship between China and Italy.
