The Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial People's Congress, at its annual work conference on March 18, announced that deputies submitted 1,046 suggestions during the third session of the 14th Guangdong Provincial People's Congress, all of which have been assigned to 108 agencies for review.
Finance and economic affairs dominated the suggestions, with 401 submissions (38.3%). Other key areas included education, science, culture, and public health (250 suggestions); rural and agricultural development (123); social development (111); urban and environmental affairs (74); judicial and supervisory affairs (44); legal system (31); and overseas Chinese and religious affairs (12).
Among the key suggestions, 159 focused on accelerating the development of emerging and future industries, upgrading traditional industries, and building a modern industrial system. Another 95 aimed to strengthen the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's integration and expand economic openness. Additional suggestions targeted consumption growth, investment stimulation, urban and rural beautification, and environmental initiatives.
Departments such as the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission and the Provincial Departments of Industry and Information Technology and Finance have each been assigned over 100 suggestions.
In 2025, the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial People's Congress will establish five specialized deputy groups for research, inspections, law enforcement evaluations, and public engagement.
The Finance and Economic Affairs Committee of the Guangdong Provincial People's Congress will take the lead in forming a specialized group of deputies to support SMEs, enhance enterprise quality, and promote innovation in the manufacturing sector. These measures aim to bolster Guangdong's economic competitiveness and drive sustainable growth.
