Being in the automotive business, Philip Heumann, Co-founder & Chief Technology Officer of the Dubai-based company NEV Holding, was impressed by the development of the electric auto industry in Guangdong. "I attended the Asian Youth Leaders Forum for business partners and like-minded individuals to strengthen the bond between China and the UAE (United Arab Emirates), he told GDToday at the Asian Youth Leaders Forum.

He elaborated that his company specializes in importing electric vehicles and charging stations from China to the UAE. He highlighted that there's a great demand for electric cars and charging stations in the UAE and Greater Gulf Cooperation Council Area, while Guangdong has a mature supply chain of electric vehicles.
"When we looked for the best technologies, we found both Shenzhen and Guangzhou are great manufacturing hubs." Heumann recalled the beginning of cooperation with his business partner in Guangdong, "They have the know-how when it comes to manufacturing, and we have the localization know-how. It's a very trustful relationship."
According to the Guangdong Automobile Industry Annual Conference in 2023, the retail sales volume of electric vehicles was 756 thousand in 2022, an increase of 77.6 percent year-on-year. Statistics from Guangdong Customs show the export volume of electric vehicles from Guangdong increased by 4.7 times in 2022.
"We are very interested in bringing more charging stations and software technologies from Guangdong to the UAE. Our company plans to invest in the field of smart cities, while software is the binding glue of an ecosystem of electric vehicles," he said.
He said he would visit Shenzhen and look for more software companies after the Forum, especially in the automotive domain. "Hopefully, we'll find some great software partners there, just like we have for hardware," he said.
