The memo was signed recently to strengthen cooperation between the two districts, especially in the fields of trade, investment, agriculture, tourism, and education.

Attapeu Province is in the southeastern part of Laos and has five districts including Sanamxay. Located in the southwest of Attapeu Province, Sanamxay District has abundant natural resources such as land, forests, and rivers.

According to the memorandum, Nansha will cooperate with the Lao Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to carry out the project of Attapeu-Nansha RCEP Agricultural Park in the two districts. Nansha also plans to promote Laos' ODOP products (One District One Product) by cooperating with the Lao Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the National University of Laos.

"Nansha and Sanamxay have excellent prospects for cooperation in the economy, trade and cultural exchanges. The cooperation between the two districts will contribute to closer China-Laos ties," said Wu Yang, Executive Chief of Nansha District.

Vanhpheng Saisompho, Consul General of the Lao PDR in Guangzhou, said the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) is a very dynamic place, with market opportunities for Lao goods and handicrafts. More and more investors from the GBA also have come to invest in Laos, bringing new technologies and job opportunities for local people.

"The signing of the memorandum will boost economic and social development for both sides," the CG added.
