You should wear a mask in these five situations:

1. If you are diagnosed with respiratory infectious diseases, such as COVID-19, influenza, mycoplasma pneumoniae, and respiratory syncytial virus infection, and you are going to indoor public places or to have close contact with others (when your distance to other people is less than 1 meter, the same applies to situations below);

2. When you have symptoms of respiratory infectious diseases and you are going to indoor public places or to have close contact with others;

3. When you go to a medical facility for treatment, or you are accompanying others, or visiting a patient in the facility;

4. If you are visiting nursing homes, social welfare institutions, and child care institutions when respiratory infectious diseases incidence is high in the area;

5.If you are working as medical, catering, cleaning, and security staff in key institutions when respiratory infectious diseases incidence is high in the area.

Situations in which it is recommended to wear a mask:

1.When you are using public transportation during the period of high incidence of respiratory infectious diseases;

2. When you enter a confined and crowded space such as supermarkets, theaters, passenger terminals, and elevators during the period of high incidence of respiratory infectious diseases;

3. If you are a senior resident, or a patient with chronic underlying diseases, or pregnant and you are going to indoor public places during the period of high incidence of respiratory infectious diseases;

4.While you are studying, living or working with people who have symptoms of respiratory infectious diseases.

Situations in which it is not advised to wear a mask

1. During physical exercise.

2. In outdoor places, for example, open squares and parks.

3. For infants and young children aged 3 and under.

Patients with respiratory infectious diseases or those with symptoms are suggested to wear N95 or KN95 masks, while others are recommended to wear disposable medical masks or medical surgical masks.
