The new line will operate at a maximum speed of 100 km/h. According to line operator HKMTR Shenzhen, during trial operation, the trains will undergo simulated service runs for at least 20 days, following the official timetable to ensure all systems meet the necessary operational standards.

The first phase of Line 13 spans from Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint Station to Shangwu Station, covering a total distance of 22.441 kilometers and featuring 16 stations. Its southern section, currently in trial, includes 7 stations, 4 of which are interchange stations, including Houhai (connecting with Lines 2 and 11), Keyuan (connecting with Line 2), Yuehaimen (connecting with Line 9), and Shenzhen University (connecting with Line 1).

The southern section of Line 13 will be operational this year, providing a vital connection between Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint and the Shenzhen Hi-Tech Industrial Park in Nanshan District. Notably, this is the first metro line to extend directly to Shenzhen Bay Port, significantly enhancing transportation convenience to this key border crossing.
