As a supplement to the current regular bus service in specific areas, Hengqin launched a trial operation of an online bus-pooling service on March 18.
Passengers can now make reservations through the WeChat Mini-Program. Once booked, the app will display the license plate number of the assigned vehicle and its estimated arrival time. At the same time, after receiving passenger reservation information, the system will utilize big data to optimize routes and dispatch the nearest available driver.
During the trial operation, the online bus-pooling service has a total of 136 stations, including 132 roadside bus stops and four virtual stations, covering major business districts, residential areas, and tourist attractions in Hengqin. Operating hours are from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily. The initial phase of the trial will deploy 18 operational vehicles, including ten 7-seater vans and 8 small buses.
During the trial operation period, a special discount is being offered, reducing the fare to just ¥3 per person.
