Kashgar has been serving as the only Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in western China since 2010. The Kashgar Free Trade Zone, which is operated by Shenzhen Port Group, is a part of the SEC. It has attracted more than 400 enterprises, many of which are from the Pearl River Delta, mainly engaged in logistics, cross-border e-commerce and so on.
Data shows that in 2022, the import and export trade volume of Kashgar Free Trade Zone reached 28.28 billion RMB, an increase of 661.8% from 2020, ranking first among four comprehensive bonded areas in Xinjiang. Furthermore, it plans to achieve a total value of import and export trade of 35 billion RMB this year.
