Maoming's Gaozhou drives integration of agriculture and mini-dramas, boosting rural incomes

Maoming's Gaozhou recently hosted a series of events exploring new models for integrating agriculture, rural areas, and farmers (ARF) with mini-dramas. Last year, the city launched a dedicated work plan and a 5-million-yuan annual fund to build a support system for the industry, aiming to become "China's No. 1 Village for ARF Mini-Dramas." The policy offers rewards of up to 150,000 yuan for high-quality short dramas.

In Sishui Town's Tandi Village, over 30 film crews have already filmed on location, generating more than five million yuan through the short drama economy. Villagers' per capita income has risen to 52,000 yuan—nearly 10,000 yuan higher than in 2023. The village is now building a Lingnan rural-themed mini-drama base, with the first phase of 10 sets to be completed by year's end. The long-term goal is to attract 200 film crews and establish a complete industrial chain covering creation, filming, and production.
