“16,527 secondary close contacts of confirmed cases have been discharged from quarantine,” Zhang Yi, deputy director of the Guangzhou Municipal Health Commission, said at the press conference on the city's fight against COVID-19 today (November 12).
According to Zhang Yi, quarantine has been lifted for 5,094 close contacts of confirmed cases and 7,252 travelers from abroad since they have stayed centralized quarantine for 5 days and been tested negative.
On November 11, Guangdong reported 323 new locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases and 2,996 new asymptomatic infections. In addition, there were 437 locally confirmed cases converted from previous asymptomatic cases.

Guangzhou reports 3,180 new local COVID-19 infections
"On November 11, Guangzhou reported 3,180 new local COVID-19 infections, of which 21 were detected during screening at the community level or among people who sought medical treatment, and the remaining were detected during quarantine or in high-risk areas. Among the new infections, 2,921 were asymptomatic and 259 were mild-type," Zhang Yi said at the press conference held on November 12.
Zhang Yi added, residents should still take good care of their health. Even if they are not identified as a close contact, they should still undergo home quarantine or home health monitoring as required once the health code turns yellow or red, which indicates that they may be at risk of infection.
Hospitals in Guangzhou should take prompt measures to treat residents who are pregnant, burnt, scalded, poisoned or who are in other emergent situations, despite the COVID-19 control measures such as quarantine, nucleic acid test results requirement, and health code requirement.
Haizhu District reported 2,960 cases on November 11, mainly concentrated in Kanglu area of Fengyang Subdistrict, Longtan area of Huazhou Subdistrict, Datang area of Nanzhou Subdistrict, and Kecun area of Chigang Subdistrict. No new case has been detected at community level in Haizhou District in the past 2 days.
Residents can report their medical demands to the community, which will help send them to hospitals within the district.
The epidemic in Liwan's Xicun, Zhanqian and Nanyuan subdistricts has been stabilized. However, there were still some secondary infected cases in Qiaozhong and Longjin Subdistricts, where there is still a risk of community transmission.
In Panyu District, the cases were concentrated in Dashi and Zhongcun subdistricts. There were also several new cases detected in Shawan Subdistrict and Shilou Town. The risk of community transmission still remains.
The epidemic in Baiyun District has been stabilized. Most new cases were detected during quarantine.
Shenzhen reports 2+5 new local cases
On November 11, Shenzhen reported 2 new confirmed cases and 5 new asymptomatic infections, among which 3 were detected during centralized quarantine, 2 during home quarantine, 1 during screening of key individuals under non-closed-loop management, and 1 during screening at the community level. The patients were all travelers from other provincial-level regions.
Residents who took the Train K237 and Train K1347 from November 7 to 9 should report to their community as soon as possible due to abnormal nucleic acid test results detected during screening of passengers on these trains.
Zhuhai reports 1 new local case
On November 11, Zhuhai reported 1 new asymptomatic infection, which was detected during screening at the community level. Zhuhai announced to carry out mass nucleic acid testing in Sanzao Town and Hongqi Town, Jinwan District (金湾区三灶镇和红旗镇) from November 12 to 16.
Zhongshan reports 2 new confirmed cases
On November 11, Zhongshan reported 2 new confirmed cases, 1 was detected during screening of key individuals under closed-loop management, and 1 was during centralized quarantine.
Dongguan reports 1+16 new local cases
On November 11, Dongguan reported 1 new confirmed case and 16 new asymptomatic infections, among which 3 were detected during screening at the community level.
Zhaoqing reports 1 new local case
On November 11, Zhaoqing reported 1 new confirmed case who traveled from other provincial-level regions on November 9 and was detected as a close contact of a confirmed case on November 11.
Huizhou reports 2+2 new local cases
On November 11, Dongguan reported 2 new confirmed cases and 2 new asymptomatic infections, who were all travelers from other provincial-level regions.
Maoming reports 29+12 new local cases
On November 11, Maoming's Maonan District added 8 new confirmed cases and 5 asymptomatic infections.
On the same day, Gaozhou detected 21 new confirmed cases and 7 asymptomatic infections.
Meizhou reports 16 new asymptomatic cases
On November 11, Meizhou's Fengshun County reported 1 new asymptomatic case during centralized quarantine, and Meixian District added 15 asymptomatic cases, among which 7 were detected during home quarantine, 1 during centralized quarantine, and 7 during screening in high-risk areas.
