Products toward integration of software and hardware key to China's new growth

"The digital economy has become one of the most critical driving forces for today's global economic recovery, and it is also a very important new drive for China's economic growth." Du Lan, President of Guangdong Association of Artificial Intelligence Industry, and Executive Director of Guangdong Pearl River Investment Management Group Co., Ltd., said at the launch ceremony of the Women Scientists Session of the 2023 Greater Bay Area Science Forum (GSF).

In Du's opinion, digitalization is core to reshaping the business model of enterprises. If "Software-Defined Hardware" is not set as a top-level design of a company, it is a traditional company. In the era of the Internet of Everything, as products move towards the integration of software and hardware, the product will also become the carrier of communication between enterprises and users, as well as the terminal of services. So, our traditional manufacturers will be transformed into service providers and operators.

In the first quarter of 2023, China's car exports surpassed Japan for the first time and ranked first in the world. Why can China's new energy vehicles achieve corner overtaking? Du Lan believes one of the most important factors is that China is one step ahead of the time in "Software-Defined Hardware" and is driving a rapid increase in intelligence.

She noted, when we look at the future of the digital economy, we should not only see the progress of technology itself, but also it's a test of our understanding of the real world. "Whether it is artificial intelligence or other technologies, it is born in the real world and serves the needs of the real world," said Du.

The 2023 GSF is being held in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Foshan from May 20 to 23. With the theme "Light Up The Science, The Intelligence Of SHE", the first Women Scientists Session kicked off on May 20, gathering more than 100 experts, scholars, and entrepreneurs from the fields of computer and software, industrial manufacturing, energy materials, biomedicine, geographical environment, public health, and psychology.
