A new cold front bringing light rain is forecast to impact Guangdong from Monday (January 22) to Wednesday (January 24), with temperatures of about 5 degrees Celsius and below expected in most parts of the province, according to the Guangdong Meteorological Observatory.
As of 3 p.m. on January 22, Guangdong has issued a total of 143 alerts for cold waves.

From Monday (January 22) to Wednesday (January 24), the lowest temperature in northern Guangdong and mountainous areas of the Pearl River Delta will reach below zero degrees Celsius with freezing conditions. Mountainous areas of northern Guangdong will see sleet or light snow.
On Tuesday (January 23), northern Guangdong will experience light rain to cloudy skies, while other regions will be overcast with light rain. Lows: -3 to 2 degrees Celsius in northern Guangdong and the northern Pearl River Delta (-6 to -2 degrees Celsius in high mountainous areas), 6 to 10 degrees Celsius in southern coastal areas, and 3 to 6 degrees Celsius in the remaining areas.
On Wednesday (January 24), western Guangdong will be overcast with cloudy periods and scattered rain. Other regions will be overcast with cloudy spells. Lows: -3 to 2 degrees Celsius in northern Guangdong and the northern Pearl River Delta (-6 to -2 degrees Celsius in high mountainous areas), 6 to 9 degrees Celsius in southern coastal areas, and 2 to 6 degrees Celsius in the remaining areas.

On Thursday (January 25), temperatures are predicted to rise during the day. Western Guangdong will be overcast and cloudy with scattered light rain. Most of the remaining areas will mainly be cloudy. Lows: 0 to 5 degrees Celsius in northern Guangdong and the northern Pearl River Delta (-2 to 0 degrees Celsius in high mountainous areas), 7 to 11 degrees Celsius in southern coastal areas, and 4 to 7 degrees Celsius in the remaining areas.
