Jiangmen's exports to the European Union (EU) surged 9.5 percent year-on-year to 8.25 billion yuan (USD 1.14 billion) in the first four months of 2025, driven by strong demand for smart home appliances and green technologies.
Local manufacturer Jiangmen POSI Refrigeration Appliance Co., Ltd., a national high-tech enterprise with 56 patents, exemplifies this trend. The company's cost-effective portable air conditioners and dehumidifiers experienced a 14 percent export increase to the EU in Q1 2025, including a 23.4 percent jump in shipments to France. To meet rising EU demand for eco-friendly products, the company recently launched a 160,000-square-meter zero-carbon factory.

Jiangmen Customs has accelerated trade flows through innovative measures. The "Combined Port" initiative linking Shenzhen and Jiangmen ports has reduced logistics costs by 15 percent per container.
As China and the EU mark 50 years of diplomatic ties, deeper cooperation under the China-EU comprehensive agreement on investment is expected to further unlock opportunities. Jiangmen's focus on smart manufacturing and green innovation positions it to benefit from Europe's energy transition, with policies like carbon border adjustments aligning with the city's industrial upgrade strategy.
