On June 7, the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin officially opened its second driverless demonstration line, the "Hengqin Port - Chimelong" route.
During a 30-minute test ride, the "smart" vehicle showcased dynamic path planning, precise lane-keeping, autonomous lane changing, autonomous overtaking, intersection navigation, precise parking, and dynamic obstacle avoidance, all without any intervention from the safety officer on board. The driverless minibus anticipated and responded to situations with utmost precision, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable ride.
Equipped with cutting-edge technology, the new model features a 64-line LIDAR system, 360-degree blind-spot-free real-time HD imaging, millimeter-wave radar, blind area LIDAR, and high-precision combined positioning. With a maximum speed of 40 km/h and a range of over 200 km, the minibus can operate at L4-level automation on urban open roads throughout the day, ensuring safety and reliability.
The "Hengqin Port - Chimelong" line is the second driverless tourism route in Hengqin, following the launch of the "Flower Corridor" line. It encompasses attractions and business districts such as the Hengqin-Macao Youth Entrepreneurship Valley, Hengqin Central Street, Hengqin New Home, Hengqin Port, Chimelong Ocean Kingdom, Chimelong Hengqin International Circus City, and Chimelong Spaceship Hotel, etc.
Spanning 7.2 kilometers, the line provides a 30-minute one-way journey. Operating hours are from 9:00 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 18:00 daily, with increased frequency during holidays.
With a total of 195 kilometers of driverless roads already open in Hengqin, including the core roads with heavy traffic, the Cooperation Zone has accumulated over 50,000 kilometers of autonomous driving experience.
According to the Urban Planning and Construction Bureau of the Cooperation Zone, next they will continue to expand the driverless shuttle service network to meet the growing demand for intelligent networked vehicles in Hengqin, further enhancing the high-quality development of intelligent transportation in Guangdong and Macao.
