Guangzhou to tighten traffic control during Canton Fair

From April 15 to May 5, Guangzhou's police authorities will impose traffic controls around the Canton Fair Complex (Area A, B, C, D) to ensure smooth passenger flow and operation of the fair.

No vehicles shall enter the venues except those with the Canton Fair permit. There are traffic signs for other social vehicles, and on-site traffic guidance will be provided by local police.

It is estimated that the peak entry hours will be from 8:30 to 10:00, and the peak departure hours will be from 17:30 to 19:00. Meanwhile, the traffic flow will surge at busy intersections including Xingang East (Exhibition East), Pazhou Avenue East, and Yuejiang Road (Exhibition East).
In addition, there are limited parking spots around the Complex. Therefore, public transportation such as the metro, tram, bus, and taxi, as well as peak shifting travel, are highly recommended.

During phase one (April 15-19) and phase two (April 23-27) of the fair, Guangzhou Metro will adjust the operating time of Line 4 and Line 8 to meet the traffic demand. And as the third phase (May 1-5) will coincide with Labour Day, the holiday timetable will be applied to the metro lines.
In terms of smart travel, some stations are equipped with intelligent service platforms, which have bilingual interfaces and FAQs for the Canton Fair.

During the Canton Fair, Guangzhou Metro will also focus on facilitating travel payment for overseas passengers. There are foreign currency exchange machines at Xingang East Station of Metro Line 8, and a total of 10 POS (point-of-sale) machines for foreign bank cards are placed at eight key stations including Pazhou, Xingang East, Guangzhou Railway Station, Guangzhou East Railway Station, Guangzhou South Railway Station, Shitan, Airport South, and Airport North.
