Argentina's Malbec provides high-quality wine for Guangzhou's wine lovers

To celebrate the 14th Argentine Malbec World Day, the Consulate General of Argentina in Guangzhou held a wine tasting event on April 17 at the Kingold Century Office Tower, aiming to promote Argentina's rich wine heritage along with its tourism, culture, and cuisine.

Consul General of Argentina in Guangzhou toasted to the guests.

Ms. María de los Ángeles Arrieta, the consul general of Argentina in Guangzhou, attended the event and delivered a toast. The event attracted widespread enthusiasm, with attendees including a crowd of wine lovers and industry professionals, such as wine producers, importers, distributors, and procurement managers.

Guests were tasting wine while listening to the introduction of Malbec wine.

According to the wine promoter, Malbec stands out as one of Argentina's most renowned grape varieties. In Argentina, Malbec grapes are cultivated in 15 out of the country's 18 wine regions, including Mendoza, the North, the Atlantic, and Patagonia.

The popularity of Malbec has surged in recent years, growing by 195 percent over the past 23 years, making it synonymous with Argentina's wine-making culture.

According to Arrieta, meat (meat products) is the best seller of Argentine in foreign trade, which is also a good combo with wine.

As the second-largest trade partner, China is a significant market for Argentine’s wine sales. Arrieta remarked, "China is an important economic partner for Argentina, especially Guangzhou. Local wine companies in Malbec cooperated with factories in Guangzhou and Foshan, which provide logistic and deposit services, making sure that Guangzhou wine lovers can enjoy the best taste of our Malbec wine. Argentina is striving to provide consumers with higher-quality wines."

Wine culture constitutes an important part of Argentine culture. "Family moments or festival celebrations, such significant moments with wine are prevalent in Argentina and many other countries. Therefore, we hope to use this shared wine culture to transmit Argentine culture globally with Malbec," stated the consul general.

She also encouraged more Argentine enterprises to come to the Canton Fair and seek cooperation opportunities in the food, textile, and manufacturing industries.
