President Xi highlighted, China’s overall development objectives aim to significantly increase scientific and technological capabilities and join the ranks of the world’s most innovative countries with great self-reliance and strength in science and technology, and become a leading country in science and technology in 2035. Thus, China is setting a new growth model in the increasing complexity and acceleration of change in the entire world system. The world is indeed in a new era, which calls for a new journey and cooperation. In this new cooperation, the relationship between the Philippines and China is more important than ever for my country,” said Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, Former President of the Philippines, Senior Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Philippines, Chairman Emeritus of the Association for Philippines-China Understanding.

She highlighted the significence of China-Philippines cooperation in science and technology from the report delivered by Xi Jinping to the 20th National Congress.

“Little did I realize that China was in a class of its own. Rather than a competitor, China has proven to be a partner in development. It is a market for developing countries, a donor, and a provider of capital and technology,” said Arroyo on Understanding China·Greater Bay Area Dialogue.

The “Understanding China·Greater Bay Area Dialogue” is in full swing in Guangzhou, south China’s Guangdong province, from April 18 to 20, with the theme of Chinese Modernization and New Opportunities for the World. GDToday is one of the media sponsors of this conference.
