GD to eliminate mother-to-child transmission of HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B by 2023

Recently, the Health Commission of Guangdong Province issued an "Action Plan for Eliminating Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV, Syphilis, and Hepatitis B in Guangdong Province (2023-2025)."

According to the plan, the province will gradually lower the mother-to-child transmission rate in the coming three years.

The plan proposes to guide both newlyweds and couples preparing for pregnancy to undergo testings as early as possible, and provide timely interventions and guidance.

The service process for early pregnancy testing for HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B will be improved, and the targeted early pregnancy testing rate is over 80%.

Infected pregnant and lying-in women will have special case management, with early diagnosis and treatment of HIV and syphilis. Standardized antiviral therapy will be provided to those infected with hepatitis B who meet the treatment criteria.

Nutritional and psychological support for infected pregnant and lying-in women and their children will be strengthened.
