Guangdong sets up sales & exhibition centre in Central Asia

An investment event was held in Guangzhou on January 6 to promote trade cooperation between Central Asia and Guangdong and highlight the sales & exhibition centre and overseas warehouse in Kyrgyzstan.

The event was jointly organized by CCPIT Guangdong (China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Guangdong Committee), the Guangdong Chamber of International Commerce, and the Kyrgyzstan-Guangdong Chamber of Commerce, aiming to boost cooperation between the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and Central Asian countries.

More than 50 enterprises representing the lighting, construction materials, electronics, furniture, motorcycle parts, logistics, exhibition, and culture industries participated in the event.

“The potential of the Central Asia market is enormous. We are expecting a peak of international trade volume between Central Asian countries and the GBA in 2023,” said Fan Xinlin, Vice President of CCPIT Guangdong.

Fan stated that CCPIT Guangdong will stimulate economic and trade cooperation with Central Asia countries by utilising the GBA’s capital, technology, and talent pool, as well as Central Asian countries’ natural resources. He suggested that CCPIT Guangdong would organize enterprises to visit Central Asia and explore the most recent opportunities there in 2023.

“We have established two overseas warehouses in Kyrgyzstan. One is in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, and the other is in Osh, the largest city in southern Kyrgyzstan, covering 38 thousand square meters and 26.46 thousand square meters respectively,” said Li Tiantao, President of the Kyrgyzstan-Guangdong Chamber of Commerce.

He stated that the warehouses offer services for cross-border currency settlement, international freight, and customs clearance.

Li also said that the occupancy rate of these warehouses has reached about 70 percent and they are ready for online sales and exhibition. In the future, the warehousing services, including the payment service, will be enhanced and made more practical for both local and Guangdong businesses.

According to Liu Hanxi, Co-Chairman of China Rich Crown Holdings (Central Asia Trade), opportunities for GBA's businesses have arisen in Central Asia due to an upgrade in consumer behaviour and a change in the region's business model, especially in the areas of daily necessities, hardware, electro-mechanical products, construction materials, furniture, and household appliances.

According to CCPIT Guangdong, the Kyrgyzstan-Guangdong Chamber of Commerce has set up exhibition centres, overseas warehouses, and industrial parks in Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, and maintains partnerships with the local governments in real estate, construction materials, mining, hotels, finance, and wholesale markets.
