Four waves of cold air are forecast for Guangdong this January, according to the provincial meteorological observatory.
In addition to the one currently affecting Guangdong, three more are anticipated from January 7 to 8, 22 to 24, and 27 to 30 respectively, bringing chances of rainfall as well.
It is expected that the average temperatures in Guangdong in January will be 0.1 to 0.5 degrees Celsius higher than normal, with little possibility of strong cold fronts sweeping through the entire province.
Except for the southwestern part of Guangdong, the average rainfall this month in the remaining regions will be 10% to 20% higher than normal.

Frosts and freezing weather are projected to occur in the mountainous areas from January 7 to 9 and 27 to 31.
Weak cold air will continue to flow into Guangdong on January 2 and 3, resulting in a slight temperature drop and overcast skies.
On Wednesday, there will be cloudy-to-overcast weather with light rain in west Guangdong and the western Pearl River Delta. Other regions will be cloudy. Minimum temperatures will range from 7 to 10 degrees Celsius in the northern part of north Guangdong, 15 to 18 degrees Celsius in west Guangdong, and 11 to 14 degrees Celsius in the remaining areas.
On January 4, most parts of the province will be sunny to cloudy. The lowest temperatures will stay around 6 to 9 degrees Celsius in north Guangdong, 13 to 17 degrees Celsius in west Guangdong, and 10 to 13 degrees Celsius in the remaining areas.
The sunny-to-cloudy weather will continue into January 5, with a rise in temperatures. Minimum temperatures will range between 8 and 12 degrees Celsius in north Guangdong, 14 and 19 degrees Celsius in west Guangdong, and 12 and 13 degrees Celsius in the remaining areas.
