GZ+9244, residents are advised to reduce gathering on coming weekend

"Since the current situation of the epidemic in Guangzhou, we advocate residents to reduce unnecessary gathering on the coming weekends." said Zhang Yi, deputy head of the Guangzhou Municipal Health Commission, at the press conference on Guangzhou's fight against COVID-19 today (November 18).

On November 17, Guangdong reported 321 new locally transmitted confirmed cases and 9,110 asymptomatic cases.

Guangzhou reports 9,244 new local COVID-19 infections

"On November 17, Guangzhou reported 9,244 new local COVID-19 infections, of which 16 were detected outside the controlled area. The remaining infections were detected during quarantine, in high-risk areas, or among key people under closed-loop management," said Zhang Yi. Among the new cases, 255 were confirmed cases, and 8,989 were asymptomatic cases.

Haizhu District reported 9,008 local COVID-19 infections, mainly concentrated in Fengyang, Nanzhou, and Longzhou Subdistricts. The epidemic sees a rising trend in the high-risk areas, still waiting for the turning point. The cluster epidemic in Kuangquan Subdistrict, Yuexiu District, is still developing. However, the epidemic has stabilized in Panyu Districts, and most temporary controlled areas have been released. 

Till November 16, Guangzhou has 6,006 confirmed in-patients, of which 2 in critical condition. Both of the cases were elderly with a variety of underlying severe diseases. After receiving treatment at Guangzhou Eighth People’s Hospital, Guangzhou Medical University, their condition was stable.

Shenzhen detects 7+5 new cases

On November 17, Shenzhen added 7 confirmed cases and 5 asymptomatic cases. Among the cases, 5 were detected during centralized quarantine, 2 during domestic quarantine, 2 among the key population under closed-loop management, 1 in close contact, and 2 in the screening at the community level.

Foshan adds 4+26 cases

On November 17, Foshan reported 4 confirmed cases and 26 asymptomatic infections, of which 26 were detected among residents under quarantine, 3 in the coordinated screening, and 1 was diagnosed when the individual sought medical treatment.

Zhaoqing reports 22+13 new cases

On November 17, Zhaoqing added 21 new locally transmitted cases (mild type) and 13 asymptomatic cases. In the cases, 5 were detected when the individuals sought medical treatment, 5 in the screening at the community level, 5 in the detection of close contacts, and 19 in the centralized quarantine. Meanwhile, there was 1 case detected in the coordinated screening across districts and was from another city. The above cases were all transferred to the designated hospital for treatment.

Huizhou adds 4 new confirmed cases

On November 17, Huizhou added 4 asymptomatic cases (1 in Huicheng District and 3 in Daya Bay). The cases were all arrivals from other provincial regions, detected during home quarantine.

Zhanjiang detects 19+9 new cases

On November 17, Zhanjiang reported 19 newly confirmed cases and 9 asymptomatic cases. Among them, 2 were detected during centralized quarantine, 9 in the screening at the community level, 2 in the detection of close contacts, and 1 was detected when the individual sought medical treatment. The related population and sites were all under control.

Jiangcheng District, Yangjiang adds 4 asymptomatic cases

On November 17, Jiangcheng District, Yangjiang reports 4 confirmed cases, detected among close contacts and in the screening at the community level.

Jieyang reports 16 asymptomatic cases

On November 17, Puning reported 7 asymptomatic cases, detected among close contacts related to the cases in another city. Now, the cases were all transferred to a designated hospital for treatment.
