Guangdong on Tuesday (February 22) reported 7 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases and 1 new asymptomatic local infection in Shenzhen, and the other asymptomatic case in Guangzhou.

Guangzhou's Panyu found a local asymptomatic infection linked with an imported case
On February 22, a positive case of COVID-19 was found in Panyu District of Guangzhou City.
The asymptomatic case is a 42-year-old male, foreign nationality. On February 16, his 10-year-old daughter entered from the Republic of Korea on flight KE865. Since February 17, he has been taking care of her daughter in a quarantine site.
On February 19, her daughter was confirmed as a COVID-19 case. The man continued to undergo medical observation at the quarantine site. During the quarantine, he tested positive for COVID-19 and was transferred to the Guangzhou No.8 People's Hospital for treatment.
7+1 local COVID-19 cases reported in Shenzhen
Four of the new cases were found in the wave when the first case was reported on February 15, who are close contacts under centralized quarantine. Two cases were detected during virus testing of key areas; the remaining two cases were detected during virus testing of key personnel.
Case 1: female, 42 years old. She lives in Lane 5, Qiaolian East, Bantian Street, Longgang District (龙岗区坂田街道侨联东5巷). The case has been quarantined in a designated venue for medical observation since February 19. The individual was diagnosed as an asymptomatic case.
Case 2: male, 39 years old, working for a company in Bantian Street, Longgang District. He lives in Xinzhi Sci-tech Park, Bantian Street, Longgang District (龙岗区坂田街道信挚科技园). The case has been quarantined in a designated venue for medical observation since February 19. This individual was diagnosed as a COVID-19 case (mild type).
Case 3: male, 46 years old, working for a company in Bantian Street, Longgang District. He lives in Lane 5, Qiaolian East, Bantian Street, Longang District (龙岗区坂田街道侨联东5巷). The case has been quarantined in a designated venue for medical observation since February 18. This individual was diagnosed as a COVID-19 case (mild type).
Case 4: male, 52 years old, working for a company in Shatou Street, Futian District. He lives in Lane 6, Shangsha East Village, Shatou Street, Futian District (福田区沙头街道上沙东村6巷). This individual was diagnosed as a COVID-19 case (mild type).
Case 5: male, 53 years old, working for a unit in Nanhu Street, Luohu District. He lives in No. 3207, Binhe Dadao, Futian Street, Futian District (福田区福田街道滨河大道3207号). This individual was diagnosed as a COVID-19 case (mild type).
Case 6: male, 25 years old, working for a company in Guiyuan Street, Luohu District. He lives in Huarui Building, Guiyuan Street, Luohu District (罗湖区桂园街道华瑞大厦). This individual was diagnosed as a COVID-19 case (mild type).
Case 7: male, 56 years old, working for a company in Shatou Street, Futian District. He lives in Lane 6, Shangsha East Village, Shatou Street, Futian District (福田区沙头街道上沙东村6巷). The case was a close contact of case 4. This individual was diagnosed as a COVID-19 case (mild type).
Case 8: male, 54 years old, working for a company in Shatou Street, Futian District. He lives in Jinhe Garden, Shatou Street, Futian District (福田区沙头街道锦河苑). This individual was diagnosed as a COVID-19 case (mild type).
The new cases have been sent to the Third People's Hospital of Shenzhen for medical treatment.
At present, the Shenzhen CDC has completed the genome sequencing of case 1 reported on February 21, who is infected with Omicron BA.2. Genome sequencing of other cases is still ongoing.
