The Hakka Culture (Meizhou) Ecological Reserve was listed by China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism as the second batch of national cultural and ecological reserves, according to an announcement published by the Ministry on January 28. The Reserve has been protected and constructed for over ten years, and has become the first national-level cultural and ecological protection area in Guangdong.

The master plan of the Hakka Culture (Meizhou) Ecological Reserve was approved for implementation in May 2017. The reserve includes 8 counties within Meizhou, covering a total area of 15,800 square kilometers.
Known as the "Hakka Capital" and the "Longevity Capital" of the world, Meizhou is a national historical and cultural city in northeastern Guangdong. It is not only the final destination of Hakka ancestors after successive migrations, but also the main starting point for Hakka people to spread all over the world since the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Up to now, there are over 7 million overseas Chinese and compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan with their ancestral home in Meizhou, covering more than 80 countries and regions.
During the process of constructing the Hakka Culture (Meizhou) Ecological Reserve, Meizhou created and performed a number of excellent Hakka-themed cultural works. The city also launched intangible cultural heritage employment workshops and Hakka Chef project, aiming to help poor households out of poverty and promote rural revitalization.

On January 14, Meizhou rolled out several tourist routes with brand new themes. Let's take a stroll and enjoy beautiful Hakka landscapes this spring.
1. Hot Spring Route
Longguizhai Waterfall Scenic Spot in Fengshun County (丰顺县龙归寨瀑布景区)—Dabao Mountain Hot Spring Resort (大宝山温泉旅游度假区)—East Guangdong Grand Canyon (粤东大峡谷景区)
Note: Performances such as Fire Dragon and Molten Iron Flower will be shown at the Dabao Mountain Hot Spring Resort every Saturday night.
2. Hot Mineral Mud Route
