The 13th Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held its second session in the morning of January 22 in Guangzhou. Over 700 Guangdong provincial CPPCC members and more than 200 attendees gathered at the Baiyun International Conference Center.
"This year we put forward four proposals. As a CPPCC member from HK, I am very concerned about how we can contribute to the high-quality development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area through 'one country, two systems', "said Eric Fok, Standing Committee Member of the Guangdong Provincial CPPCC and Chairman of the Hong Kong Guangdong Youth Association.
"As the chairman of the Hong Kong Guangdong Youth Association, I have always cared about talents. Youth are the talents of the future. First of all, we need to understand the needs of young people before we attract them to Guangdong." Eric Fok introduced that the association has been releasing annual research reports on the "Greater Bay Area Development Index for Hong Kong Youth" since 2017. The latest report released on January 16 this year included a survey on the experiences of Hong Kong young people in furthering their studies in the Chinese Mainland to better understand their considerations for studying and working in the Chinese Mainland.
"Over the years, we have found that if Hong Kong young people get in touch with the Chinese Mainland to study earlier, this will also attract them to stay there in the future, " he said.
