On September 1, the Guangdong Theme Day of the 2022 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) was held in Beijing.

Themed with “Guangdong Services Global Sharing”, there was a signing ceremony for the Guangdong Trade Delegation during the event, with six projects worth about 644 million RMB being concluded.

Among the inked projects, Zhongke Digital Village Development Center (Shenzhen) and Haoyuan Technology Investment Group (Guangdong) signed a strategic cooperation worth over 50 million USD.

Also, Amazon Connect Technology Services (Beijing) and Zhongshan city inked an Amazon Cloud Technology’s Smart Manufacturing and Biomedical Digital Empowerment Center project worth over 36 million USD, focusing on industries like high-end equipment manufacturing, biomedicine, new-generation information technology, and cross-border e-commerce, so as to promote industrial digital solutions in Zhongshan.

During the speech at the event, Shuang Dehui, Deputy Director of the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province, introduced Guangdong Pilot Free Trade Zone’s achievements in the investment management system, trade supervision model, financial opening up, and innovation as well as the linking between rules and systems of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao.

The 2022 CIFTIS has attracted over 1,400 enterprises to attend onsite exhibitions, an increase of 13.8 percent year on year. Guangdong is scheduled to present its achievements of trade in services, as well as the development of pilot areas for innovative development of trade in services, and demonstration cities for service outsourcing. Also, there would be exclusive exhibition areas for Hengqin, Qianhai, and Nansha, aiming to present Guangdong’s latest preferential policies and investment opportunities...

In 2021, Guangdong’s imports and exports of services exceeded 980 billion RMB, an increase of 18.5 percent year on year, with a growth rate of 1.8 percentage points higher than that of trade in goods. The growth ranks second in the country in terms of scale and the volume accounts for about 18 percent of the country’s total.

According to the province’s plan for developing service trade during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), the total service trade volume will be no less than 4.5 trillion RMB to keep rounding out the top three in the country.
