Heavy thunderstorms expected in Guangdong during May Day holiday

The Guangdong Province will experience multiple thunderstorms during the upcoming May Day holiday, with heavier rainfall expected in some periods, according to the Guangdong Meteorological Service.

From April 30 to the morning of May 1, northern Guangdong, the Pearl River Delta, and eastern Guangdong are anticipated to see cloudy skies accompanied by heavy to torrential rain, with isolated instances of rainstorms. Meanwhile, the western part of the province will transition from cloudy skies to intense downpours.

During the daytime of May 1st, northern Guangdong will experience scattered showers beneath cloudy skies, whereas the southern areas are forecasted to receive heavy to torrential rain amid cloudy conditions. The remaining regions will be shrouded in cloudy to overcast skies, interspersed with showers.

From the evening of May 1 to May 2, the Pearl River Delta and western Guangdong will be enveloped in dense clouds and overcast skies, experiencing heavy to intense downpours, including localized rainstorms. The remaining areas will be primarily overcast, with moderate to heavy rainfall, interspersed with isolated torrential showers.

From May 3 to the daytime of May 4, most parts of Guangdong will have cloudy skies, with thundershowers and localized torrential rain.

From the evening of May 4 to May 5, northern Guangdong, the Pearl River Delta, and western Guangdong will be under cloudy to overcast skies, witnessing moderate to heavy thunderstorms, with isolated areas prone to torrential rain. As for the remaining areas, they will remain mostly cloudy, with scattered thundershowers and localized instances of heavy rain.
